Health Information Specialist

Duties and Responsibilities:
Health information specialists have to maintain the confidentiality of patients’ information, in accordance with the Health Information Privacy Act of 1996. For instance, the specialist can’t release a patient's health information to an employer without written permission from the patient. As a result, health information specialists must monitor changes in relevant health care laws to update their knowledge and improve compliance. These specialists also must ensure unauthorized persons don't gain access to a health care facility's databases.

 Salary:
A health Information Specialist can make up to $186,300
